Reagent for trimethylsilylation
Trimethylsilyldiethylamine (TMSDEA) is a versatile reagent utilized as an electrophilic trimethylsilyl source for cleaving cyclic ethers, esters, oxazolidines, and cyclic acetals1. It also acts as a nucleophilic source of the diethylamino group, facilitating transformations in the synthesis of β-amino enol silyl ethers and amides. TMSDEA is a moisture-sensitive, stable liquid that requires a dry storage environment to maintain its reactivity. It is soluble in a range of organic solvents, including toluene, THF, and acetonitrile.
Synonyms: N,N-diethyl-1,1,1-trimethylsilylamine; N,N-diethyltrimethylsilylamine; trimethylsilyldiethylamine; TMSDEA; diethyl(trimethylsilyl)amine
