Reagent for amination

O-Pivaloyl hydroxylammonium triflate (PONT) is an electrophilic aminating reagent1 used to introduce unprotected amino groups onto a variety of substrates, such as alkenes, arenes2, and thiols. It improves step efficiency and atom economy by avoiding the need for protection group manipulations. The reagent is bench-stable, easy to scale up, and facilitates reactions under mild conditions. The reagent is widely applied in catalytic amination reactions, allowing the synthesis of primary, secondary, and tertiary amines.
Synonyms: O-pivaloylhydroxylamine triflic acid; O-pivaloylhydroxylamine trifluoromethanesulfonate; PONT; O-pivaloyl hydroxylammonium triflate
