Reagent for nitrosation, diazotization, and oxidation

Nitrosonium tetrafluoroborate is a powerful reagent used in organic synthesis for nitrosation and diazotization reactions1. It efficiently nitrosates alcohols and amines to produce alkyl nitrites and nitrosamines respectively, and diazotizes primary amines to form diazonium salts. The reagent is also employed in electrophilic aromatic nitrosation, oxidation reactions, and hydride abstraction. It can be paired with pyridinium poly(hydrogen fluoride) (PPHF with 60% HF) for fluorination. The compound is moisture-sensitive and should be handled in anhydrous conditions for proper results.
