Reagent for trifluoromethoxylation

N-Trifluoromethoxyphthalimide is a recently introduced trifluoromethoxylating reagent of various alkyl electrophiles1. The reagent is a stable solid, that releases a OCF3 anion under mild reaction conditions. The susceptible to nucleophilic trifluoromethoxylation alkyl electrophiles include halogens and pseudohalogen (e.g. OTs and OMs) groups. The transformation shows good functional tolerance and maintains a routine procedure.
Synonyms: 2-(trifluoromethoxy)isoindoline-1,3-dione; 2-(trifluoromethoxy)isoindole-1,3-dione
