Reagent for O,N-heterocycles synthesis

N-Tosyl-1,2-oxazetidine

N-Tosyl-1,2-oxazetidine is a reliable source of electrophilic oxygen in the reaction with organometallic compounds1. The resulting compounds are perfect precursors to benzomorpholines and other related heterocycles. This synthetic approach can make six-, seven-, and eight-membered heterocyclic systems. The reagent is a crystalline colorless (or near white in big pieces) bench-stable solid. The reaction with organometallic compounds occurring in classical conditions (-78℃ and THF, Et2O, or hexene as solvent) with good yields. The compatible metalation conditions include halogen-lithium or halogen-magnesium exchange, direct ortho lithiation, and direct metalation.

Synonyms: 2-[(4-methylphenyl)sulfonyl]-1,2-oxazetidine
