Reagent for synthesis of β‑keto Weinreb amides

N‑Methoxy‑N‑methylcyanoformamide

N-Methoxy-N-methylcyanoformamide (MMC) is a highly reactive carbamoylating reagent developed for the efficient synthesis of β-keto Weinreb amides and unsymmetrical ketones1. This reagent enables one-pot transformations from lithium enolates, organolithium species, and Grignard reagents to target compounds. Its scope includes substrates such as aryl ketones, enones, lactones, and saturated aliphatic ketones. MMC is a colorless oil that is stable under inert, anhydrous conditions and should be stored below 0°C to prevent degradation.

Synonyms: methoxy(methyl)carbamoyl cyanide; N-methoxy-N-methylcarbonocyanidic amide; carbamoyl cyanide
