Reagent for N-phthaloylation
N-Carbethoxyphthalimide is a phthaloylating reagent used for selective protection of primary amines, amino acids, and amino alcohols under mild conditions1. This crystalline compound is soluble in DMF, benzene, and chloroform, and does not require special handling precautions. The main advantage of the reagent is stability in both acidic and mild basic conditions with well-known methods for its selective removal.
