Reagent for diazotransfer and click-chemistry
Methanesulfonyl azide is a simple reagent perfectly suited for diazotransfer reactions. It is compatible with many functional groups and behaves like other azide compounds. This reagent offers several advantages, including its relatively small molecular size and straightforward further purification process. Being an azide, the reagent can be employed in copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) reactions to form triazole rings. The resulting triazole products can be easily deprotected, allowing further manipulation or modification of the synthesized compounds1.
Synonyms: N-diazomethanesulfonamide; mesyl azide
