Reagent for nitrogen atom insertion
λ4-Dibenzothiophen-5-imino-N-dibenzothiophenium triflate is a stable, non-oxidizing reagent used for nitrogen atom insertion in organic synthesis1. It efficiently converts indenes to isoquinolines and arylcyclobutenes to cyanocyclopropanes, showing broad functional group tolerance (e.g., halogens, esters, ketones). Synthesized via a one-pot method from sulfoxide, the reagent is scalable and stable at room temperature. Nitrogen insertion reaction yields are moderate to excellent, reaching up to 95% for isoquinolines, while cyclopropane yields are lower due to side reactions.
