Reagent for preparation of active esters in peptide synthesis

DSC

N,N′-Disuccinimidyl carbonate (DSC) is a reagent widely used in peptide chemistry and organic synthesis1. Its scope includes the activation of carboxyl and amino groups for the formation of peptide bonds, carbamates, ureas, and esters. Applications range from the synthesis of chiral derivatizing agents, cyclic ureas, and carbonyl insertions to large-scale production of ureas and carbamates. DSC is stable under refrigeration, but moisture-sensitive. It can be used without metal catalysts, making it a safer alternative in various synthetic processes.

Synonyms: N,N′-disuccinimidyl carbonate; di(N-succinimidyl) carbonate; DSC
