Activator for DNA and RNA fragment synthesis
1H-imidazole-4,5-dicarbonitrile (DCI) is a popular activator for constructing the nucleoside phosphoramidite. It is a solid soluble in acetone, methanol, ethanol, and DMF, but practically insoluble in water1. The procedure for this activator is simple and does not require heating. After the reaction, which usually takes one night, chromatography can easily remove the DCI from the product2.
Synonyms: Imidazole-4,5-dicarbonitrile (6CI, 7CI, 8CI); 2H-imidazole-4,5-dicarbonitrile; 4,5-dicyanoimidazole; 1H-imidazole-4,5-dicarbonitrile
