Unnatural α-Amino Acids

Chemically diverse α-amino acids are essential components in screening campaigns and for generating libraries of bioactive molecules. Recently, we updated our α-amino acid stock library, which contains over 2,000 structures, by introducing subclasses. We categorized aromatic, proline-like, fluorinated, and C(α) quaternary amino acids into distinct subclasses. Additionally, we sorted the database according to the calculated numerical lipophilicity values (clogD₇) of their side chains and grouped them as strongly hydrophilic (charged), hydrophilic, amphipathic, and hydrophobic, using an experimental logP scale for the 20 common amino acids.
