Reagent for ketones synthesis

3-(Trifluoromethyl)benzenesulfonyl hydrazone

3-(Trifluoromethyl)benzenesulfonyl hydrazone is a base-promoted reagent for the synthesis of ketones from aldehydes without metal catalysts1. It enables a safer alternative to diazo chemistry, avoiding explosive intermediates. The reaction proceeds via a cyclic intermediate pathway, making it scalable and controlled. It is compatible with aromatic, heteroaromatic, and alkyl aldehydes, producing diverse ketones with high yields (42–95%). Air-stable and base-compatible, it offers an efficient and practical approach to ketone synthesis.

Synonyms: 3-(trifluoromethyl)benzenesulfonyl hydrazide; 3-(trifluoromethyl)benzenesulfonic acid hydrazide; 3-(trifluoromethyl)benzene-1-sulfonohydrazide
