Reagent for cyclopropanation

Trimethylsilyl dichlorobromomethane (TMSCCl2Br) is a stable and efficient reagent for the dichlorocyclopropanation of electron-deficient alkenes1. It generates a dichlorobromomethide carbanion under fluoride activation at low temperature, enabling high-yield cyclopropane formation. This reagent provides a safer and more scalable alternative to traditional, harsher methods. It is particularly effective with nitroalkenes and fumarates, forming gem-dihalocyclopropane scaffolds relevant to synthetic and medicinal chemistry.
Synonyms: TMSCCl2Br; trimethylsilyl dichlorobromomethane; (bromodichloromethyl)trimethylsilane; [bromo(dichloro)methyl]-trimethylsilane
