Solubilization of trinuclear chromium(III) nicotinate with Pluronic 123 micelles, which act as template in the formation of a mesoporous silica molecular sieve of the SBA-15 type, leads to the formation of a phase with mesopores 25 nm in diameter. In the obtained material the chromium oxide particles are located both in micropores and in mesopores and are characterized by moderate Lewis acidity.
