Reagent for thiolation of primary amines
Traut’s reagent cyclic thioimidate compound for the thiolation of primary amines and can be used for peptides or aminoglycosides[1]. It is a white crystalline powder that is soluble in water, methanol, and DMSO[1]. The reagent also can react with a hydroxy group, but this reaction is much slower than with amines (approximately 100 times slower)[1]. Traut’s reagent is found in application in the field modification of biological molecules for their further conjugation with other macromolecules, surfaces, markers, and cross-linking[2].
