Formylating reagent for alcohols, amines, and N-hydroxylamines
2,2,2-Trifluoroethyl formate is a versatile reagent that enables the N-formylating and O formylating in soft conditions[1]. It colorless liquid and shelf-stable. The reaction of formylating alcohols can be carried with primary, secondary, and tertiary alcohols (but with tertiary the yield is lower, but still moderate). The formylating of primary amines and secondary is faster than O formylating and generally gives an excellent yield. In the case of amino alcohols, the reagent prefers an amino group. Also, the reagent formylates N-hydroxylamines with high yields (88–95%) which makes this reagent an indispensable instrument.
